Courtney & Rob’s wedding was one of those weddings you will never forget. Yes it was absolutely stunning, but that isn’t why. Courtney and Rob, their families, and their friends are seriously the nicest and most genuine people I have been around. Everyone was so filled with joy and gratitude and it made celebrating with them an absolute blast! We laughed together, cried together, were surprised together, and partied together.

Courtney & Rob’s guest list was HUGE! 381 guests to be exact! Even though their guest list was expansive, they somehow still managed to make their entire day feel intimate and welcoming for everyone.

Personal & beautiful touches were woven throughout Courtney & Rob’s wedding day, starting with getting ready at her parents’ home. Getting ready with her girlfriends and mom and dad at home was important to Courtney, even though she had decided to physically get into her dress once she arrived at Oak Hill.

Once we arrived at Oak Hill Country Club, things started to feel real! It was time to photograph the flat lay details with styling help from Ellie of Celebrated Events and to photograph Courtney get into her dress with her MOH, cousin, Mom, and also Fatima from Silk Bridal Boutique to make sure the fit was absolutely perfect.

Courtney & Rob kept with tradition on their wedding day and decided to forgo a first look.  Once Courtney was ready, she shared an intimate first look with her dad and also a reveal to the rest of her bridesmaids.  Everyone embraced and the joy radiated from each and every one of them.  They were excited for their girl to get married!!

Courtney & Rob’s grand ceremony tent at Oak Hill felt intimate with a raised stage for Courtney & Rob and the wedding party so all guests had a view of the vow exchange and first kiss.  White floral and greenery lined the grand aisle with gold monogram, looking like a sprawling meadow.  A family friend officiated their personal ceremony where family was a focal point, again emphasizing how close they are.  After the exchange of the rings, Courtney and Rob shared their first kiss as their guests threw rose petals in monogramed gold foil bags to celebrate their union.

Courtney & Rob, their wedding party, and immediate family left the ceremony cite via golf carts to start family formals and wedding party portraits, while guests were greeted with champagne on their way to the cocktail hour tent and patio.  Guests enjoyed signature cocktails, hand passed hors d’oeuvres, and live music.

After wedding party portraits, the sky opened up with the first sunshine of the day to bring a golden touch to the intimate portraits of Courtney & Rob before we joined the reception.  Again, even more joy when the sun decided to shine!

Whenever I work with Celebrated Events, we always collaborate so our couples receive the absolute best wedding day experience.  And one of those big moments is the reception reveal.  Ellie led Courtney & Rob through the back entrance so their guests didn’t see them.  They took in the sights of their dessert tent and their sprawling reception tent that was a girl’s dream come true in shades of pink, with live trees, and gilded accents.  The reception was a beautiful collaboration between Celebrated Events, Arena’s Floral, Hank Parker, Petunia Rose, and many other talented vendors.  I love how the reception had so much dimension between the luxe linens, mirrored tables, mix of OZ and Louis chairs, chandelier over the monogramed dance floor, large scale river birch trees, and every color of soft pink you can imagine.  This moment is one that I would imagine often gets overlooked.  Your wedding day flies by, and if the first time you see your room is when you are introduced, there isn’t an opportunity to soak it all in an experience it yourself.  Of course Courtney & Rob will have their photos and video to remember their wedding day, but another personal touch was having Corrine Fallone from CAF Creations, live paint the reception & décor for a painting they can hang in their home.

After the reveal, Courtney & Rob joined their wedding party and immediate family to line up for introductions as their guests were seated.  The Jim Hines band got the party started with lively and up-beat music that welcomed all of the guests to their seats.  Some guests danced their way to their seats, while others took a few spins on the dancefloor.

After toasts and before dinner service, we snuck outside with Courtney & Rob for sunset portraits!  It was such an overcast day that we didn’t have golden light, however we had the most amazing pink and purple sky which was even better because it matched the tone and colors of the rest of the day.  Courtney & Rob danced and laughed and snuggled in together for a moment away together before joining their guests back in the tent.

Jim Hines Band kept the energy high throughout dinner by adding open dance sets and parent dances to keep the night rolling with excitement.  After dinner, Courtney & Rob led all of their guests to the dessert tent for a spectacular scene… A HANGING CAKE ON A SWING!!  Come on!  Seriously a showstopper.  Many photographers would probably choose to photograph Courtney & Rob cutting their cake with a perfectly empty backdrop that was people free to showcase them and their one-of-a kind dessert.  However, again, the overarching theme of their wedding day was that they loved everyone so much and it was so important to them to have everyone there.  So I photographed them cutting their cake, surrounded by so much love.  And it just might be my favorite cake cutting series of all time.

The full guest experience didn’t stop there.  Courtney & Rob led everyone outside to the back patio for a fireworks surprise.  The lightshow illuminated the beautiful golf course at night.  When guests re-entered the dessert tent, more surprises awaited.  A Cigar & Bourbon bar, an Espresso Bar, and an expansive dessert display that was almost too pretty to eat!  Key word… almost!

The night continued with lots of dancing and yet again, another surprise!  This time, for all of the guests AND Courtney!  Rob and Courtney’s dad surprised everyone by joining the band to play a couple songs on the drums and the guitar and the happy tears were flowing!!  The energy and party continued to the indoor ballroom where guests were again greeted with another surprise… this time, late-night eats and DJ naps to bring the after party!!
