Marion & Taylor first met in an elevator freshman year of college at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. They lived on the same floor of their dormitory, however they didn’t start hanging out until they had mutual friends a couple of years later. The rest is history!

Taylor surprised Marion on what she thought was just a normal date night a few months before they moved out to California. He took Marion up to a lookout point over Minneapolis at sunset, got down on one knee and popped the question!

Marion & Taylor wanted to host a midsummer garden party for their wedding guests. Classy but not too formal, with a focus on live music and delicious food.

Favorite wedding day moments: (Marion) “Arriving at Sonnenberg with my parents and bridesmaids, and seeing Taylor, all of the groomsmen, and flower arrangements; it was so exciting!! I also loved the few moments Taylor and I had alone immediately following the ceremony; it all started to sink in, and then we were ready to celebrate!” (Taylor) “It’s hard to choose. Either looking at Marion during our ceremony, or watching all of the older guests dance to twist & shout. It was also really cool to see all of our friends and families, from different places and walks of life, getting to know one another and having so much fun together!”

Why do you choose the venue you did: “We knew we didn’t want a traditional ballroom; right away we were looking for a scenic, outdoor venue. We also loved the idea of being in the finger lakes, since that’s where we met! Sonnenberg checked all the boxes; we loved being able to use different parts of the venue for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception so that our guests could experience the gardens also. “

Advice to couples planning now: “Start early and enjoy it! The day goes by so fast, so it’s important to have fun with the planning as well. And remember: no matter what, by the end of the day you’ll be married to your favorite person and everyone you love will be there cheering you on!”
