FAQ

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?

Etherial, natural, timeless, artful, and romantic.  I strive to document the pretty details, the organic moments, and the quiet beauty of your wedding day.  I like to blend in.  However, I direct and step in when I need to in order to get the most beautiful photograph.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE MY WEDDING DATE?  IF WE CANCEL, IS OUR RETAINER REFUNDABLE?

I require 30% down along with a signed contract to reserve your wedding date.  An intermediate payment is due 1/2 way and the remainder is due 2 weeks prior to your wedding date.  I currently accept cash and check payments and all payments are final and non-refundable.  Unfortunately due to a high volume of inquiries we are unable to hold any dates without a deposit.

Once I have received your contract and retainer, all monies paid are non-refundable.  Since I take a limited number of weddings each year, I have set aside your date for you and you alone, and have had to turn other brides away who have inquired about a date.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

Absolutely!! I have traveled all over the state, country, and world.  Please inquire with me about special travel rates!

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WEDDING DAY TIMELINE?

After shooting a number of weddings and getting married myself, I do have a strong opinion about the best wedding day timeline.  Check out my blog post here.

SHOULD WE DO A FIRST LOOK?

This is an extremely personal decision and one that I cannot make for you, however, I will educate you the best I can with your options for each decision!  I personally love first looks and my husband and I did a first look at our wedding.  Seeing one another before the ceremony gives the couple a chance to chat, flirt, and take in the moment just between the two of them. We also have the chance to do all your photographs before the ceremony so that you or your guests don’t have to wait around afterwards.  We’ll be able to use all natural light and make a relaxed timeline for the day. This keeps everyone involved less stressed and allows the couple to actually enjoy every aspect of their wedding day.

CAN FRIENDS OR FAMILY USE CAMERAS AT OUR WEDDING?

I love it when friends and family are so excited to capture moments on your wedding day.  However, there are certain times of the day that we ask friends and family to step back and let me do what I do best.

WILL YOU STAY LONGER THAN PLANNED IF OUR WEDDING CELEBRATION RUNS LATE?

Yes, of course!  Additional coverage can be purchased in one-hour increments during the event.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, I do!

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I am a hybrid photographer, meaning that I shoot film and digital.  For film, I shoot with a Contax 645 and Pentax 645n and use Kodak Portra film.  I shoot film because I love the way film soaks in light.  It is very soft, light, and romantic — something you cannot re-create with a digital image.  It has forced me to slow down while shooting and focus on capturing the felling of the moment.  For digital, I shoot with all Nikon equipment and all digital slr bodies have an assortment of professional lenses and speed lights.  For lighting equipment, I prefer natural light over artificial light, but I have equipment to handle low-lit situations when needed.

DO YOU OFFER VIDEO?

I do not offer video, but I highly recommend Jacquie Parnell who is crazy talented and my personal favorite!

And as always, if you have any other questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me!
